I’m back. I’ve finally solved my computer problems. I’m afraid it wasn’t one of those serious contemporary evils – both hard and software-ish – that can affect us all, those sorts of tribulations that can unite all cyber slaves dignifyingly. No. It was just that the batteries on my wireless keyboard ran out. This is the first time this grievous – yet apparently trivial – ill has intruded in my daily routine, amputating a chunk of my existence. We never realize just how important a keyboard is until we lose ours. Our, um…, mice are useless without it. I think this taken-for-granted device’s significance is seriously underrated. So, please, take a moment now to praise and revere your little alphanumerical friend.
Ok, that’ll do it.
Although new batteries were very high on my priority list, such an operation demanded one of those excursions to the outer, hostile world – you know, facing the elements and the angry aborigines of this part of the world –, this explaining why two weeks were necessary for an adventure of this magnitude. But I survived and I’m back now, and the last pair of little alkaline cylinders lasted about 8 months, so all is well. I’ll have enough time to get over the psychological trauma before this happens again.
